Plymouth boss Lowe rues lapses as Oldham snatch point

Plymouth boss Ryan Lowe admitted his frustration as Argyle fought back from a goal down to lead but had to settle for a 2-2 draw at home to Oldham in League Two.
Fit-again striker Byron Moore put Argyle 2-1 up in the 71st minute after Scott Wootton’s 31st-minute header had cancelled out Johan Branger’s 27th-minute opener.
But no sooner had Moore scored than Oldham skipper David Wheater powered home a header from Branger’s superb 74th-minute corner.
Lowe said: “Frustrating is the word today because when you find yourselves 2-1 up you have got to see that out.”
He added: “It wasn’t the best game, was it?
“Frustrating (because) we didn’t play as well as we like.
“The goals we scored were two good goals. We worked on the corner, deep cross, second phase and a good header back from Scotty.
“And the second goal we’ve worked on it again. Down the sides, Byron’s in the box and then next thing the ball’s in the net.
“Their goals obviously we’re disappointed with.
“The first one we should compete with the first header and the second header and then it flicks into the lad, we lose a man and he puts it in the bottom corner.
“The second one they have just gone through the middle of the pitch and we give the ball away and they go up the other end and at the corner we lose our man.
“We are own worst enemy with the ball sometimes.
“We haven’t lost and we want to keep that unbeaten record here in the league, but it was a disappointing day because we looked a bit leggy and just didn’t really get going.
“We are a work in progress and that remains the case.
“We will get there.”
Oldham boss Laurent Banide praised his side’s response to Plymouth’s fightback.
He said: “We played well, we started well and maybe we could have scored one or two more goals. It was an interesting game, I thought we could have won today because we had good opportunities.
“But we don’t have too much confidence. Last week we lost so it was important to take a point. We had a good reaction after Plymouth scored their second.
“It was a good game. We are satisfied about how we played. We have improved which is important.
“It was very important to see all of our fans with the team at the end. Step by step we are arriving at a good level. We need to continue like this.
“It was important, today we saw good spirit. We must play collectively and play together with a good spirit.
“It was a good performance, everybody worked well. It was difficult to talk about one player because the team is the star.
“We have seen progression in the last two games, so we need to continue that and we hope to get a good result next Saturday.”
