Over 25,000 Galatasaray fans gathered at Istanbul Airport to welcome Radamel Falcao to the club

A deal has been agreed between the two clubs and on Sunday afternoon, the Colombian striker touched down in Turkey to finalise things.

And it's fair to say that Galatasary fans are very excited about his arrival.

When Falcao landed at Istanbul airport, over 25,000 fans turned up to greet him.

They lined the streets outside the airport, hoping to catch a glimpse of their new signing before he's officially presented.

Now, we all know that Turkish football fans are some of the most passionate in the world, but this kind of turnout is staggering, even for them.

Absolutely mental.

In his prime, Falcao was regarded as one of Europe's top strikers, scoring for fun while at both Porto and Atletico Madrid.

However, a number of serious injuries meant he failed to replicate that form after arriving at Monaco.

The South American signed a five-year contract but spent two seasons on loan in the Premier League - first with Manchester United, then with Chelsea.

Both temporary moves were seen as nothing short of a disaster, with Falcao scoring just five league goals between the two clubs.

After returning to France in 2016, he caught fire once again and helped guide Monaco to the League 1 title, scoring 21 goals in 29 games. He's been a solid goalscorer in the seasons since.

Earlier this summer though, Falcao admitted that he wanted a new challenge, so his move to Galatasary doesn't come as much of a surprise.

"The truth is that I still have a year of contract and the club did not offer me an extension," he said, back in August.

"So I have to think about my future, my family. I am studying the offers I have been offered. These are good opportunities for my career. I have to think about my family."

Falcao could make his debut at home against Kasımpasa S.K. later this month and with this kind of support behind him, the Colombian could be scoring for fun in Turkey.
