Benrahma targets starting spot for Brentford

Said Benrahma will hope to make his first start for Brentford against Derby after coming on as a substitute in last weekend’s defeat at Charlton.

Brentford boss Thomas Frank will have to decide whether to involve midfielder Josh Da Silva, who was an unused substitute at The Valley.

Defender Ethan Pinnock will look to retain his place following his recent return from injury.

New signings defender Dominic Thompson and forward Joel Valencia have yet to make a first Championship appearance for the Bees.

Derby winger Florian Jozefzoon will be unavailable to play against his former club after missing the last two matches.

Boss Philip Cocu could also be without left-back Scott Malone, who has been struggling with injury.

Malone was named on the bench for his side’s 1-1 draw with West Brom last weekend after being substituted at half-time in the two previous outings.

In a boost for Cocu, Andre Wisdom has returned to first-team training while Jayden Bogle (ankle), Ikechi Anya (calf) and Craig Forsyth (knee) remain sidelined.
