Plymouth claim a point after last minute penalty

Dom Telford’s 89th minute penalty secured a 2-2 comeback draw for Ryan Lowe’s Plymouth against League Two new boys Salford at Home Park.
Ibou Touray stunned Lowe’s Argyle when he rose at the far post to head home a deep cross from the right in the 79th minute to put City ahead for a second time against the run of play.
But 10 minutes later Telford restored parity from the spot after Callum McFadzean was fouled on a run into the penalty area.
City had taken a 37th minute lead through target man Jake Beesley who was unmarked when he headed home Richie Towell’s near post free kick from the right.
Beesley looked set to make it three goals in two games straight after when he ran through one-on-one with Argyle’s on-loan West Brom keeper Alex Palmer.
Palmer made a superb block to keep the score down.
Plymouth playmaker Danny Mayor levelled with a superb 43rd minute strike, cutting in from the left, choosing his spot and sending a measured rising drive into the far corner out of Chris Neal’s reach.
Palmer went full stretch to keep out Touary’s first time effort as he met Danny Whitehead’s cross with a low shot.
Argyle were the next to go close as Joe Riley’s angled shot from the right smashed off the near post on 65 minutes.
