New arrivals Dominic Thompson and Joel Valencia could make their Brentford debuts against Cambridge in the first round of the Carabao Cup.
Defender Thompson joined the Bees from Arsenal last Thursday while Valencia was an unused substitute in the 1-0 win at Middlesbrough over the weekend after signing from Polish side Piast Gliwice a fortnight ago.
Said Benrahma and Kamohelo Mokotjo could come into head coach Thomas Frank’s plans, with the pair having missed Brentford’s opening two Championship matches of the season as they worked their way back to fitness.
Midfielder Christian Norgaard is the only absentee with a leg injury.
Full-back Kevin Knoyle and striker Sam Smith will be absent for League Two side Cambridge.
Knoyle is to have a scan on the shoulder injury that led to his withdrawal on the stroke of half-time during the goalless draw against Newport at the weekend.
Smith, on loan from Reading, is set to be sidelined by a tight groin, though fellow forward Harvey Knibbs and defender Louis John are expected to return, having not featured in Cambridge’s campaign so far.
Manager Colin Calderwood is set to make some changes from the side that were held by County at the weekend.
