Nicky Law’s 89th-minute winner earned Exeter a 1-0 victory at Stevenage.
The League Two clash looked destined to end goalless before Law’s stunning strike stole the spoils late on at the Lamex Stadium.
The Grecians are now one of only three teams to kick off the new League Two campaign with two wins from as many games, whilst Stevenage are among three sides yet to pick up a point.
Exeter goalkeeper Lewis Ward was called into action early on to thwart Paul Taylor’s thumping effort, while down the other end Randell Williams curled wide after being found by Nicky Ajose.
Paul Farman in the hosts’ goal did well to deny Williams’ free-kick, with Pierce Sweeney smashing into the side netting in the aftermath.
Exeter had claims for a penalty waved away after Law went down in the hosts’ box.
Williams should have opened the scoring after substitute Lee Martin’s pullback but it did not prove costly as Law settled the contest with a fine finish from the outside of his left boot.
