James Hanson denied former side Bradford their first Sky Bet League Two win of the season as he earned Grimsby a 1-1 draw.
James Vaughan had given the visitors the lead early in the second half, but it was Hanson’s header that ensured his side picked up a point.
Bradford goalkeeper Richard O’Donnell was tested early on as Grimsby made a quick start to the game, with Ahkeem Rose’s strike forcing him into a good save.
Despite Grimsby having the better of the first half, it was the visitors who took the lead shortly after the break.
Vaughan managed to peel off the hosts’ defenders to latch onto Jordan Gibson’s 53rd-minute cross, and he headed the ball unopposed beyond a helpless James McKeown in the Grimsby goal.
The home side pushed for an equaliser and their pressure paid off as it arrived in the 66th minute when Hanson latched on to Jake Hessenthaler’s corner to head in against his former side.
McKeown was forced into a superb save late on from Sean Scannell as both sides had to settle for a point from an enthralling game.
