WAYNE Rooney wants to return to coach at Man United when he finally retires from playing football.

The club’s record goalscorer aims to be a part of boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s staff.

And the move would placate wife Coleen, who has told pals she wants to move home from America.

Roo, 33, is under contract with DC United until the end of 2020 — but is said to be weighing up his future options.

His 11-year marriage to Coleen, also 33, was rocked when ex-call girl Helen Wood — who romped with him in a 2009 threesome — wrote about him in her memoir last month.

A source close to Rooney said: “Wayne is already looking to the future and wants to remain in the game.

"He also wants to keep his family together and to do what is best for Coleen and their boys.

“So a job at United would be perfect. Wayne would like to one day move into coaching.

"Long-term, he would love to be a part of what Ole is creating.”

Ex-United pals Nicky Butt and Michael Carrick already have jobs at the club.

A separate source said last night: “Wayne is doing his coaching badges but is happy at DC United and has an option to stay beyond his current contract. So nothing will happen for a while.”

Coleen is said to be homesick and wants their sons — Kai, nine, Klay, six, Kit, three and Cass, one — enrolled in UK schools.
