Virat Kohli Snubs Lionel Messi By Calling Cristiano Ronaldo 'The Most Complete Player'

Virat Kohli has snubbed Lionel Messi by praising Cristiano Ronaldo as the "most complete player" he has ever seen in the sport.

The India captain, 30, showed his admiration for footballing legends like Ronaldinho, Oliver Kahn, Andres Iniesta and Xavi.

But Kohli revealed that the Juventus ace, 34, stood out at a higher level than the rest of the competition.

"[I've enjoyed watching] Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Oliver Kahn, Luka Modric, Iniesta, Xavi, Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo," he told FIFA.

"For me, Cristiano is above everyone else. His commitment and work ethic is unmatched. He wants it that bad -- you can see it every game."

When he was asked who had the better career out of Messi, 32, and Ronaldo, India's master run chaser reaffirmed his stance on the ex-Manchester United and Real Madrid star.

He explained: "Ronaldo. In my opinion, he has taken on more challenges and succeeded at all of them.

"He's the most complete player I have seen and his work ethic, as I mentioned, is unmatched.

"He inspires people. I don't think many people do that. He's also a leader and I love that. Absolutely love it. He has amazing belief, too."

The India batsman also named Paris Saint-Germain superstar Kylian Mbappe, 20, as the heir to the two five-time Ballon d'Or winners.

"Mbappe stands out for me. His sprint in the 2018 World Cup against Argentina is hard to forget," he said.

"He's a beast and he will definitely be at the top of the pile for me. Absolutely top-class player."

Kohli endured heartbreak this summer in the Cricket World Cup as New Zealand produced a superb performance to knock India out of the semi-finals.

Ronaldo enjoyed a successful first season in Serie A as Juventus won both the league title and Supercoppa Italiana.

And the Portuguese superstar continued his trophy-winning ways in the summer as he captained his side to the inaugural Nations League title.
