MANCHESTER UNITED are expected to complete the signing of Sergej Milinkovic-Savic from Lazio if they sell Paul Pogba.

Milinkovic-Savic has been linked with a move to Old Trafford as a potential replacement for Pogba, who sparked speculation over his future last month when he said “it could be a good time to have a new challenge somewhere else”.

The Manchester United midfielder could be on the move amid interest from Real Madrid and former club Juventus.

Reports in Spain suggest Old Trafford bosses are preparing for Pogba’s departure by lining up potential midfield arrivals.

AS claim Tottenham ace Christian Eriksen and Sporting Lisbon goal-machine Bruno Fernandes are on the list but a deal Milinkovic-Savic is close to being agreed.

While United insist Pogba is not for sale, Real Madrid are reportedly holding talks over a potential deal for the World Cup winner.

And, according to AS, the Lazio board expect to sell Milinkovic-Savic to the Red Devils as soon as Pogba is sold.

Despite fevered speculation over the club’s transfer activity, Old Trafford bosses have landed just two new signings this summer.

Daniel James was first through the door from Swansea City for an initial £15m before ex-Crystal Palace right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka completed a £50m switch.

Solskjaer, however, is content with the business and has pleaded with fans to be patient over further arrivals.

“I'm very happy with the two players we've brought in, but now we've got to be patient,” he said.

“This is a long haul and it is very important we get the right ones in.

“We can't just jump onto a different path if we hit a hurdle. My feelings are that I am not frustrated at all.

“I believe in these players. I'm sure we could do well but it's both short-term and long-term.

“We're working on something we've identified that cold improve us, but we've played well, performed well, had some good results so far.

“But it's not about winning games in pre-season. It's about finding a way we want to play to get to the starting line and the team to be gelling.”
