Real Madrid have already spent big this summer on the likes of Eden Hazard, but that hasn't affected their plans to sign Pogba.

The Spanish side are aware of Pogba's desire to leave Manchester United following a three-year spell and believe they are best placed to acquire him.

The Red Devils have already refused to enter the negotiation table on two occasions, but Madrid are ready to make a third play for the midfielder according to Spanish publication AS.

Madrid have the luxury of time on their hands with the Spanish transfer window closing on September 2 - almost a month after the English deadline day on August 8.

Juventus had also looked like a potential suitor, but their interest has dropped with Ajax wonderkid Matthijs de Ligt their priority.

Zinedine Zidane continues to underline his desire to see Pogba call the Bernabeu home and believes he can produce more from the Frenchman than we have seen at Old Trafford.

United though are reluctant to sell the World Cup winner amid fears they could be perceived as a selling club when pushed.

Madrid though are prepared to push as hard as they need to get the 26-year-old with Zidane maintaining that Pogba is an essential part of his project moving forward.

The player turned manager returned for a second spell in charge of Los Blancos on the pretence he would have more power over who the club recruited.

A failed campaign that featured a humiliating Champions League exit to Ajax showed a side in need of a fresh impetus.

Pogba is ready for crunch talks with manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer once he returns to Carrington.

He is hoping the Norwegian will prove to be an ally when it comes to forcing an exit out of Old Trafford.

Executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward has already maintained United will not sell their record-signing, but Pogba is hoping Solskjaer can convince him otherwise.

Handing in a transfer request is a last resort for the Frenchman who does not want to destroy his reputation in Manchester.

The Red Devils begin their pre-season with a match in Australia and the Frenchman is determined not to be on the plane.
