Sporting Lisbon coach Marcel Keizer has said the club have slim chances of keeping skipper Bruno Fernandes
SPORTING LISBON manager Marcel Keizer has conceded it will be difficult to keep Manchester United transfer target Bruno Fernandes at the club.
The Portugal international is on top of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s wish-list as the Red Devils boss is stepping up his squad overhaul at Old Trafford.
Fernandes, 24, became one of Europe’s most sought-after talents after he bagged 32 goals for Sporting last season.
United have reportedly held numerous talks with the Lisbon side over a £70million move for the midfielder.
And his Old Trafford switch seems more and more likely as club manager Keizer has admitted that chances of the Portugal star staying put are slim.
He told Record: “I want Bruno Fernandes to stay, but everyone knows the current situation.
“It’s going to be difficult to keep him going, he’s on vacation, we’ll see what happens.”
Liverpool, Manchester City and Tottenham have all been linked with a swoop for Fernandes.
But the Red Devils are believed to be the side showing the most interest in signing the Sporting skipper – as well as his favoured destination.
His agent Miguel Pinho reportedly flew to London earlier this week to discuss a potential Old Trafford switch.
Solskjaer is hoping to complete a deal for Fernandes, and Newcastle starlet Sean Longstaff, before the pre-season begins in July.
United have already signed Swansea star Dan James with their £50m move for Crystal Palace ace Aaron Wan-Bissaka on the verge of being announced.
