Mendy, 24, was snapped up by Los Blancos from Lyon earlier this summer.

Zinedine Zidane is on a massive speeding spree following a tough 12 months at the Bernabeu.

The French chief will now need to sell before he can buy again.

However, if the likes of Gareth Bale and James Rodriguez are moved, Zidane will have plenty of money to reinvest.

Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba and PSG forward Mbappe have both been touted as potential arrivals.

Both players were linked with moves to the Bernabeu in the past, but Zidane looks like he could finally snare them.

When asked if the duo would fit in behind the scenes at the Bernabeu, Mendy said: "Why not, they are players of a very good quality."

Real goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois said Mbappe would be 'very welcome' at Real.

"If he will come to the Bernabéu, I do not know, really. But it is clear that players like him will always be very welcome at Real Madrid," he said.

Spanish transfer expert Eduardo Inda claimed earlier last week that the wheels are already in motion for a Mbappe deal.

"The normal thing would be to go for him next summer," he said.

"But the player has transmitted that he will make a gesture this summer.

"Real Madrid have told Mbappe that they will wait until the last day."

Pogba, meanwhile, has also been linked with former club Juventus.

The French midfielder broke ranks last week and publicly admitted he was ready to pack his bags.

"For me, I have been for three years in Manchester and have been doing great; some good moments and some bad moments, like everybody," Pogba said.

"After this season and everything that happened this season, with my season being my best season as well... I think for me it could be a good time to have a new challenge somewhere else."

He won't be allowed to leave Old Trafford on the cheap, though.

United chief executive will demand in excess of £100m for the wantaway star.
