Milinkovic-Savic to Juventus? Lazio open to selling club's Serie A duel-master

Lazio president Claudio Lotito has revealed he "will not oppose" the sale of Sergej Milinkovic-Savic if the midfielder wants to leave.

The 24-year-old Serb has been the subject of interest across the continent, with Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain among the names being bandied about, while Manchester United were interested last summer.

Could Milinkovic-Savic leave Lazio? Five things to know…
1. Milinkovic-Savic rose to prominence in 2017/18, with speculation soon mounting.
2. But Lazio remained firm that their prized asset would not be leaving.
3. The Serb signed a new five-year deal in October with no release clause, according to agent, Mateja Kezman.
4. Despite the new deal, he is again being linked with Juve and PSG.
5. Should a bid come in and he wants to leave, Lazio boss Lotito says he won't prevent a sale.

Milinkovic-Savic burst onto the scene in 2017/18, sparking rumours of a big-money move away from the Stadio Olimpico last summer, but the mountainous midfielder cooled speculation by agreeing a new deal with the Biancocelesti in October.

Despite a less prolific Serie A season this time around (five goals, three assists), Milinkovic-Savic has again been linked with a move to one of Europe's heavyweight clubs and Lazio boss Lotito has now conceded he won't stand in the way if his midfielder wants to leave this summer.

Lotito told Gazzetta dello Sport: "At Lazio, we only keep those who want to stay.

"If the player expresses the intention to try a new challenge, we won't stand in his way.

"Negotiations aren't carried out in newspapers. I'll just put out there that he was considered the best midfielder in Serie A last season."

Juve looking likely

Juventus announced the appointment of former Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri on Sunday and the Italian could be joined in Turin by an elite midfielder this summer.

Rumours have already been gaining serious traction over a deal for soon-to-be free agent Adrien Rabiot, while Man Utd's Paul Pogba, who cast doubt on his future at Old Trafford recently, has also been linked.

But reports have also surfaced that the Old Lady could be lining up an astronomical offer for Milinkovic-Savic –who won more duels (220) in Serie A than any other Lazio player last season – likely to be in the region of €100m.

With Juve desperate to win a first Champions League title since 1996, there could be some serious business conducted this summer in addition to the already confirmed deal for Aaron Ramsey.
