CHELSEA star Olivier Giroud aimed a sly dig at Arsenal as he claimed moving to Chelsea was an ‘improvement’ before the striker declared himself ‘a proper Blue’.

Giroud scored the opening goal of the game as Chelsea ran out 4-1 winners in Wednesday's Europa League final in Baku.

The Frenchman joined the Blues from Arsenal in a ï¿¡20million deal in January 2018 after five and a half years with the Gunners.

He has found himself on the fringes of the side but has starred in the Europa League and finished as this year’s top scorer after bagging 11 goals.

Giroud refused to celebrate scoring against his former side in a show of respect but risked angering Arsenal supporters with his latest comments.

"It was an improvement going from Arsenal to Chelsea and I knew I would have the opportunity to win some more trophies,” he said.

"To win this Europa League one year after winning the World Cup is great for me.

"I’m a Blue, a proper Blue. It’s a new chapter of my career and it was very special to score. I am so proud of this team."

Despite that, Giroud’s future at Stamford Bridge remains uncertain as he has struggled for game time in the league.

However, he insists he is ready to fight for his place and hopes to stay at the club.

"I’m 32, nearly 33, but I feel like there is more and more to come,” he added.

“I am still hungry and I am looking forward to next year: playing in the Champions League and fighting for more titles."

Manager Maurizio Sarri is also unsettled and Express Sport understands he is set for talks with club chiefs today.

Juventus are keen to take him back to Italy after sacking Massimiliano Allegri.

And the lure of the Italian giants could be too good for him to turn down given Chelsea’s problems with their two-window transfer ban.

However, he did admit he hoped to stay immediately after securing the Europa League, his first ever trophy as a manager.

“I am starting to feel like this Chelsea team is mine,” he said.
