CHELSEA have been urged to cash in on Eden Hazard this summer by Sky Sports pundit Danny Mills because they can’t afford to lose him on a free transfer next year.

The Belgian is approaching the final year of his contract and with little intention of signing an extension, he is a top summer target for Real Madrid.

After FIFA rejected Chelsea’s appeal against their transfer ban earlier this week, it may now prove difficult for Hazard to leave this summer.

The Blues are banned from signing players for the next two windows, so they’re likely to do everything they can to keep their star player amid interest from Zinedine Zidane.

But according to Mills, Chelsea ought to sanction his exit while they can to prevent them losing him on a free next summer, a conclusion which will be much more damaging in the eyes of the former England defender.

“With the transfer ban they can’t bring players in, Eden Hazard has sort of intimated that he might be off,” he told Sky Sports.

Mills was then asked whether Hazard is off at the end of the season, he replied: “I would assume so, he’s got a year left on his contract and they’ve got to cash in.

“They cannot let him walk away for nothing and how productive is he going to be next season.

“Chelsea are now in a real difficult situation, because are they going to be as successful next season if Hazard leaves?”

With Chelsea unable to bring in a replacement, losing Hazard would be a hammer blow towards their hopes of kicking on under Maurizio Sarri next season.

Mills believes Chelsea’s biggest challenge will be filling the void of the 28-year-old who has 16 Premier League goals this season.

He added: “Who would you replace him with? That’s another issue.

“Hudson-Odoi is great but actually, he’s injured, is he going to come back fit and can he be the replacement for Hazard?

“There are so many concerns about Chelsea.”

Hazard may have played his last ever game at Stamford Bridge for Chelsea last night as they reached the Europa League final in Baku.

He dispatched the winning penalty against Eintracht Frankfurt, sending goalkeeper Kevin Trapp the wrong way.

Sarri’s side finish their league campaign at Leicester on Sunday before traveling to Azerbaijan on May 29 for the final against Arsenal.
