Real Madrid 'becoming frustrated' with Chelsea's Eden Hazard stance – Standard

Hazard's superb season

Eden Hazard is, statistically, having his best ever season in a Chelsea shirt.

In 36 league appearances this campaign, Hazard has scored 16 and assisted 15, the most goal contributions of any Premier League player this season.

The Belgian is also Chelsea's top scorer, and a big part of why they secured Champions League football for next season on Sunday.

Maurizio Sarri's side also made it to a League Cup final and are in the semi-finals of the Europa League.

Despite this, Hazard claims it is not his best season, because Chelsea are not 1st in the league:

"For me the best season is when I'm first in the table. I don't care about statistics. I'm not focused on that, I'm not like this.

"To be fair, it's not my best season anyway because it was like the team's. We started well and I started well, then we had ups and downs. It was the same for me as well." As quoted by the Evening Standard.

Real Madrid in Hazard stalemate

Real Madrid, on the other hand, are clearly impressed with the 28-year-old's 2018/19 campaign.

Los Blancos have been linked with Hazard very heavily for much of the year.

However, according to the Evening Standard, Madrid are growing increasingly frustrated when trying to come to an agreement with Chelsea for the winger.

As per the report from the Standard, talks between the two clubs began over a month ago.

Chelsea are said to want £100m for Hazard's services but the two offers Madrid have delivered so far have fallen short of the Blues' valuation.

The London club may want to be careful when negotiating, though, as they could lose Hazard for free in 2020.
