That's the viewpoint of former Blues defender Wayne Bridge.

FIFA recently slapped Chelsea with a transfer ban which means they are unable to sign players in the next two windows.

They are appealing the decision however, which means the restriction can be temporarily suspended.

But even if boss Maurizio Sarri is able to bring players in, Bridge thinks only Cristiano Ronaldo or Lionel Messi would currently represent an upgrade on Hazard.

"If Chelsea lose Hazard, I don't know how they could replace him," Bridge told Goal.

"I couldn't think who they would sign because Hazard is one of the best players in the world.

"I would think only Messi or Ronaldo could replace him.

"I think if they do lose him, they can't replace him."

"That's why I worry that Chelsea could struggle even more than they are doing at the moment," he continued.

"He has been a huge part of the club's season with goals and assists.

"I would love to see Hazard stay to help the club compete and he has been so good for the league, but we don't know what will happen."

Hazard has been at Chelsea for seven seasons but it seems like his time at Stamford Bridge is almost up.

His desire to work alongside his hero Zinedine Zidane at the Bernabeu is reportedly stronger than ever.

But according to Goal, the Blues are holding out for £100m in order to sell their star man.

Meanwhile, Sarri might have angered Hazard by benching him for Thursday's Europa League semi-final first leg against Eintracht Frankfurt.

Chelsea take on Watford tomorrow as they look to consolidate on fourth place in the Premier League.
