Stevenage moved to within two points of Sky Bet League Two’s play-off places with a 4-1 win at Port Vale.
Visiting goalkeeper Paul Farman was called into action twice early on, thwarting David Worrall’s header before tipping Tom Conlon’s strike from range onto the crossbar.
Dino Maamria’s side led after 12 minutes, when midfielder Emmanuel Sonupe surged down the right and into the penalty area to power the ball left-footed beyond home stopper Scott Brown.
Sonupe scored his second five minutes after half-time, pouncing on a loose ball to swivel in the box and drill a low left-footed effort across goal that crept into Brown’s bottom-left corner.
Cristian Montano halved the deficit for John Askey’s Valiants with 67 minutes played, bending left-footed from the right-hand edge of the area to beat Farman’s dive.
Ilias Chair added a third by converting low in the area after 84 minutes, before Kurtis Guthrie completed the scoring in the fifth minute of added time with a right-footed strike from range.
