Newport see off lowly Yeovil to give play-off push a boost

Newport County gave their ambitions of a League Two play-off push a boost with a 3-1 win at struggling Yeovil Town.
After a first half of few opportunities, Newport found their stride after the break and took the lead after 62 minutes when Dan Butler crossed from the left and Robbie Willmott headed in off the post.
Four minutes later the visitors doubled their advantage, this time as Ben Kennedy cut inside from the left flank and saw his right-footed shot take a deflection on its way into the top corner.
Yeovil – who are in a relegation battle at the bottom of the table – gave themselves a glimmer of hope when Tom James flicked in a Tristan Abrahams corner at the near post in the 73rd minute.
Yet the result was put beyond doubt in the first minute of second-half stoppage-time as a long free-kick forward found substitute Keanu Marsh-Brown in space and, from an angle, he fired it past goalkeeper Nathan Baxter.
