Will Nightingale in fitness race as AFC Wimbledon face Gillingham

AFC Wimbledon defender Will Nightingale is a doubt for the Sky Bet League One clash with Gillingham.

The centre-back was forced off in last weekend’s win at Southend but his knee injury is not as bad as first feared and he hopes to be available on Saturday.

Rod McDonald played 62 minutes in a reserve match on Tuesday after a month out with a groin injury and could be in contention.

Deji Oshilaja, who has missed the last month, is not expected to feature despite making good progress on a bruised foot, while forward Kwesi Appiah (hamstring) is also doubtful.

Alex Lacey is available to return for Gillingham at Kingsmeadow.

Defender Lacey, who has not made a first-team appearance for two months due to an ankle issue, came through a midweek Kent Senior Cup match unscathed.

Gills midfielder Dean Parrett has been suffering with illness but is expected to recover in time to be involved.

Ricky Holmes (back) and Billy Bingham (calf) are still not ready to return, while Gabriel Zakuani (ankle) is out for the season.
