Liverpool hold an advantage over Man Utd in the race for Raphael Varane
LIVERPOOL reportedly hold an advantage over Manchester United in the race for Raphael Varane.
But the superstar defender appears to be using both clubs to leverage a new deal at Real Madrid.
Marca claim Varane could be destined for a Premier League switch after eight years at the Bernabeu.
The 25-year-old joined as a fresh-faced youngster from Lens in 2011 and has gone on to become one of the world’s best centre-backs.
Varane has won a ton of trophies during his time in the Spanish capital, including two La Liga titles and four Champions League, as well as the 2018 World Cup with France.
But it’s believed he could call time on his Real adventure in favour of a new challenge abroad.
United are long-time suitors and could be willing to smash the world-record transfer fee for a defender with a £100million bid.
But Liverpool could derail Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s plans as Real are reportedly keen on signing Anfield ace Sadio Mane.
It’s suggested they will offer Varane as leverage, with Zinedine Zidane already spending big on Porto’s Eder Militao.
And United could be left in the dust if Mane decides he wants to join Real, even though Jurgen Klopp has warned Liverpool will not be selling their best players this summer.
