Defenders step forward for Fleet

Three defenders were on the scoresheet for Ebbsfleet in an action-packed 3-2 National League win over Boreham Wood.
Jack King opened the scoring for the hosts after just five minutes, converting the rebound when Gozie Ugwu’s shot came back off the post.
Kieran Murtagh’s header restored parity just minutes later, before Sam Magri scored his first Fleet goal in the 22nd minute.
In the second half, Chris Bush joined his defensive colleagues in finding the net and Wood’s chances of a comeback became even slimmer when captain Mark Ricketts was sent off, but they did manage to pull a goal back late on through Bradley Ash.
An injury to Dave Winfield, after all three substitutions had already been made, meant it was 10 against 10 for the final few minutes but the visitors were unable to find an equaliser.
