Michael Cheek scores twice as Ebbsfleet beat Maidenhead

Michael Cheek scored a second-half brace as Ebbsfleet recorded a comprehensive 3-0 National League victory over Maidenhead on Tuesday night.
Neither goalkeeper had too much to do in the first half but visiting shot-stopper Carl Pentney was called into action to keep out a corner midway through before Adrian Clifton fired over the crossbar at the other end.
Jack Payne and Cheek combined well as Ebbsfleet searched for an opener 10 minutes before the break but the latter’s header was safely collected by Pentney.
The hosts came out strongest in the second half and Corey Whitely took advantage of a mistake from the Maidenhead defence six minutes in to slot the ball past Pentney from close range.
Cheek doubled their lead seven minutes later before sealing the three points as he completed his brace with 11 minutes remaining.
