As per a report from Mirror journalist John Cross, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is set to be named as Manchester United's next permanent manager imminently.
Solskjaer turns things around
Former United hitman Solskjaer was the man chosen to replace Jose Mourinho on the bench at Old Trafford late in December.
And the Norwegian has since gone on to enjoy an absolutely superb stint in charge of the Red Devils.
Solskjaer's first 18 outings as United boss have seen the club notch 14 wins, with the negative, defensive brand of football long-showcased by the Premier League giants under Mourinho having been replaced by a fast-paced, attractive style under the guidance of their new boss.

- 10 Wins
- 25 Points (in 9 games - Mourinho 26 points all season)
- 28 goals scored
- Only 7 goals conceded
- 5 clean sheets
- Equal best start to Premier League management.
- Best EVER start for a United manager.

Along with steering United firmly back into the hunt for a top-4 spot in the Premier League, Solskjaer has also overseen the club's passage to the quarter-finals of both the FA Cup and Champions League, the latter of which saw the Manchester giants secure a historic 2nd-leg comeback at French champions PSG last week.
1 - Manchester United are the first team in Champions League history to progress to the next round having lost by two or more goals at home in the first leg of a knockout match. Incredible. #PSGMUN

United's imminent announcement
As such, questions have already begun to mount regarding whether United's search for their next long-term boss could simply see them hand the reigns to Solskjaer on a permanent basis.
And, as per the aforementioned report from John Cross this evening, such a decision has in fact already been made by the board at Old Trafford.
'The former United striker is now the only contender for the post, and the club's top brass have already decided to make him their next permanent manager.'
As such, it is claimed that an official announcement on Solskjaer's position being made permanent will be forthcoming 'during the upcoming international break'.
