JOSE MOURINHO has praised Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for masterminding Manchester United’s phenomenal comeback over Paris St-Germain on Wednesday.

With United written off following a 2-0 first leg loss at Old Trafford, no one was giving Solskjaer a chance against PSG.

But against the odds, the Red Devils are through to the next round of the Champions League after knocking the French champions out on goal difference following a 3-1 win.

Romelu Lukaku struck twice after errors from Thilo Kehrer and Gianluigi Buffon before the most dramatic moment came right at the death.

With the Red Devils still needing a goal after Juan Bernat’s earlier equaliser in the first half Diogo Dalot struck from distance.

The ball deflected off Presnel Kimpembe for a corner but the referee stopped play with VAR being used to checked the situation.

The decision was then reversed to give United the penalty, which Marcus Rashford dispatched with impressive calmness.

It is just the latest of results that amplifies the difference between Solskjaer and Mourinho.

Under The Special One, there was a sense of doom and gloom around Old Trafford and the club were 11 points off the top four.

But Solskjaer has reversed that immediately, unbeaten in the Premier League, claiming the scalps of Arsenal and Chelsea in the FA Cup and now an incredible comeback in the Champions League.

And Mourinho was full of praise for his successor at United, claiming that the Norwegian deserves huge credit for the work he has done.

"In terms of players, I was immediately thinking about [Dusan] Tadic, because he was a key player in that amazing match," Mourinho said.

"But I think independent of the performances, Ajax and Manchester United results are phenomenal results, and if the responsibility in the bad days is for the managers, the responsibility of the good days is then also for the managers.

"So for me, [Erik] ten Hag from Ajax and Solskjaer from Manchester United. Incredible results, so credit to them."

United take on Arsenal next in the Premier League at the Emirates in a huge match.

A win for either side could be massive in the race to finish fourth this season, with the two teams battling it out for a Champions League spot.
