And the man who plays Jon Snow in the hit TV series was presented with an extra special gift from the Old Trafford royalty.

United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer presented Harington with a club shirt donned with "King in the North" on the back as the two posed for a picture post-match.

The Red Devils' social media channels then shared the snap online along with a caption saying: "From one King in the North to another. Great to welcome Game of Thrones star and MUFC fan Kit Harington to Old Trafford on Sunday."

Solskjaer was not the only one to meet the hugely-popular actor.

Defender Chris Smalling also spent time with Harington and posted a picture of the pair of them together on Instagram.

The 29-year-old wrote: "Of course the King in the North is a red. Great to meet you Kit, can't wait for the new season to start."

And in a day to remember for Harington he also managed to grab snaps with with fellow United men Paul Pogba, Victor Lindelof, Andreas Pereira - and he even met the much-loved Rachel Riley.

Season eight, which will be the final one, of Game of Thrones will begin in April.

And Harington is not the only cast member of the HBO show to support United.

John Bradley, who plays Samwell Tarly, previously presented Marcus Rashford with the player of the month prize.

The draw with Liverpool made it ten Premier League matches unbeaten for Solskjaer since he replaced Jose Mourinho in December.

Smalling played the full ninety minutes yesterday and will be hoping to help record another clean sheet on Wednesday.

United travel to Selhurst Park to tackle Roy Hodgson's Crystal Palace in two days' time.
