Luke Varney a doubt for Cheltenham

Luke Varney is a doubt for Cheltenham’s Sky Bet League Two home clash with Port Vale on Saturday.
Varney missed Tuesday’s 2-0 win over Cambridge at the Jonny-Rocks Stadium due to a hamstring problem and boss Michael Duff has said he is not sure the 36-year-old striker is going to be fit for this contest.
Jordan Tillson (groin) also sat out that last match and has been described by Duff as “touch and go”.
The manager was hopeful that Tyrone Barnett, sidelined of late by a hamstring issue of his own, would train on Thursday. Club captain Johnny Mullins played for the reserves on Wednesday and suffered no adverse reaction.
Port Vale boss John Askey, whose men have lost each of their three games since his appointment, may bring Cristian Montano and David Worrall into the starting line-up.
Askey was pleased with the performances the pair delivered after coming off the bench in the 2-1 defeat to Tranmere on Tuesday.
It remains to be seen if there is any involvement for Luke Joyce and Manny Oyeleke.
Joyce was absent for the Tranmere match because of injury, and Oyeleke (calf) has missed all three matches under Askey so far but did resume training last week.
