Wigan will check on defender Danny Fox ahead of the visit of Sky Bet Championship strugglers Ipswich.
Fox, a January signing from Nottingham Forest, sat out the goalless draw with Stoke due to concussion protocol after suffering a head injury, and losing consciousness, in the game against Rotherham.
Cedric Kipre came into the Latics backline against Stoke, so is on stand-by again should Fox not be passed fit.
Midfielder Nick Powell, now fully recovered from a hamstring problem, could be in contention after a late substitute appearance last time out, while Darron Gibson (thigh) continues his rehabilitation.
Ipswich boss Paul Lambert will start a two-match touchline ban after being sent to the stands during a fiery East Anglia derby defeat at Norwich, and has some fitness concerns in the squad.
Captain Luke Chambers has missed the last two matches with a foot injury, while fellow defender James Collins (hamstring) is also a doubt, but both have been able to resume training this week.
Midfielder Flynn Downes should be involved following a sickness bug, along with Cole Skuse while forward Ellis Harrison (hamstring) is also expected to be available.
Freddie Sears (knee) and Jack Lankester (back) plus midfielders Emyr Huws (knee), Grant Ward (cruciate) and Tom Adeyemi (Achilles) are all sidelined.
