Emery can trigger transfer spree with £60m Guendouzi sale

PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN are keeping tabs on Arsenal’s midfield sensation Matteo Guendouzi, who could turn out to be a very expensive mistake by the French giants.

Guendouzi, 19, joined PSG as a six year-old and spent nine years at the club.

But he moved on to Lorient, before heading to Arsenal last summer in a £6million deal.

The France Under-21 international has impressed at the Emirates this season and PSG have been scouting him ahead a potential summer move.

But the manager has only been handed limited funds to spend on new players this summer.

Emery he has been told that he can raise money by selling players like Mesut Ozil to boost his kitty and might therefore consider cashing in on Guendouzi.

PSG would need to offer the Gunners around £60m - ten times what Arsenal paid for him - if they want any chance at all of signing him.

Guendouzi has played 33 games for Arsenal this season, scoring once.

He has been booked eight times since late October and was sent off in the League Cup win over Blackpool.

As for Ozil, he has been consigned to just one start in the last 10 Arsenal games as his rift with Emery continues.

Ozil was linked with a move away from the Emirates in January but Arsenal were not ready to sell.

It is hoped the 30-year-old can be incorporated back into Emery’s plans, especially now Aaron Ramsey is leaving Arsenal for Juventus at the end of the season.

Ozil earns an eye-watering £350,000 a week at the Emirates and Arsenal were not willing to hand Ramsey, whose contract expires in the summer, pay parity.

Selling Ozil could prove tricky, however, because of those wages.

Arsenal paid £42.5m for the playmaker when he arrived from Real Madrid back in 2013.

He signed a new contract last year, wedding Arsenal to that commitment until 2021.

Finding a buyer willing to pay the transfer fee Ozil would command AND cover his wages could prove tricky.

Arsenal may therefore end up having to pay part of his weekly salary were they to agree to sell him to another club.
