MANCHESTER UNITED are prepared to offload £75m Romelu Lukaku this summer and hope to replace him with one of Serie A's top talents.

Discussions are understood to have already begun with Juventus and Inter Milan over Lukaku’s potential successor in attack.

Juve forward Paulo Dybala has fallen out with manager Massimiliano Allegri in Turin, meaning the Argentina international could be available.

At the San Siro, meanwhile, Mauro Icardi has been stripped of the Inter captaincy and is at loggerheads with boss Luciano Spalletti.

Manchester United’s immediate concern still remains naming their permanent replacement for Jose Mourinho in the Old Trafford hotseat.

However, it has not stopped the club from making plans ahead of the 2019/20 campaign.

United are prioritising a mobile goalscoring striker, which Dybala or Icardi fall under.

Each Serie A star is expected to command a figure of £100m, showing it will prove costly to replace Belgium frontman Lukaku, who does not suit Solskjaer’s style at present.

But to kill two birds with one stone, United chiefs are believed to be ready to include Lukaku in any deal for Dybala or Icardi.

United’s former Chelsea forward has fallen down the pecking order under Solskjaer, with Marcus Rashford being deployed first and foremost in the No.9 role.

The Red Devils academy product is expected to start up top for United again at Stamford Bridge in their FA Cup fifth round tie on Monday (7.30pm).

Lukaku, though, could earn a chance to impress given the injuries this week to Anthony Martial and Jesse Lingard.

Long-term, however, the 25-year-old’s place in the United side looks under huge threat.

And as a result, Lukaku may need to seek a future elsewhere as the club begin planning for next term without him.

He has eight goals in 23 Premier League games this term but has failed to find the net in the Champions League.
