Doughty’s double helps Swindon down Dons

Michael Doughty’s double saw MK Dons’ sorry slump in form continue with a 3-2 home defeat to Swindon.
Paul Tisdale’s side were well in the mix for an automatic promotion spot in Sky Bet League Two before the festive period but two wins in their last 10 outings has seen them slip outside the play-offs.
Lee Nicholls was kept busy in the hosts’ net early on as he was on hand to deny Doughty twice.
But it was third time lucky for Doughty with a great solo goal 11 minutes before the break.
The former QPR man won the ball back, charged at goal and calmly shot past Nicholls.
MK Dons midfielder Chuks Aneke was denied by a brilliant one-on-one save from Lawrence Vigouroux in the 49th minute while, on the hour, Jake Hesketh’s stunning strike levelled proceedings.
But the hosts’ cheers were short-lived with Keshi Anderson hitting an unstoppable 30-yard bullet past Nicholls seconds after the restart.
Vigouroux pulled off a reaction stop to keep out Alex Gilbey before Kaiyne Woolery was tripped in the box by Recoe Martin 19 minutes from time.
Doughty picked up his 12th goal of the season by cheekily chipping the penalty straight down the middle.
Kieran Agard gave the Robins a late scare two minutes from time when he converted David Wheeler’s knockdown but Swindon held on.
