Deadline-day signing Kristian Dennis could make his Grimsby debut when they face Newport in League Two on Saturday.
Dennis has joined on loan from rock-bottom Notts County, days after Mitch Rose went the other day when Grimsby cancelled his contract.
Harry Davis will be banned for the match after being sent off against MK Dons, while James McKeown serves the final game of his own three-match suspension.
Danny Collins and Harry Cardwell missed the clash with MK Dons with knocks and remain doubtful, while Elliott Whitehouse is out with injury. Akin Famewo has left the club after Luton ended his loan deal and sold him to Norwich.
Newport could feature their own deadline-day signing in the form of Cambridge striker Adebayo Azeez.
The 25-year-old has to provide reinforcements after a number of other temporary deals ended this month.
He will be needed straight away as the games pile up, with Newport’s FA Cup replay against Middlesbrough scheduled for next week.
Matty Dolan came on as a substitute against Port Vale on Tuesday after a hamstring problem but Andrew Crofts did not feature having dealt with a similar injury.
