Jamie Mackie inspires Oxford to battling draw

Oxford fought back from two goals down to take a point in a 2-2 draw at Fleetwood.
The home side struck early as James Wallace’s defence-splitting pass released Wes Burns one-on-one with goalkeeper Simon Eastwood and the striker coolly rolled the ball home.
Oxford won plenty of set-pieces but could not find a way to test Alex Cairns and were punished on the counter-attack by Fleetwood’s electric front three.
A neat one-two between Paddy Madden and Ashley Nadesan saw Town’s top scorer whip home a delightful first-time finish in the 26th minute.
Oxford’s comeback started early in the second half.
Wallace needlessly gave the ball away to Gavin Whyte in his own half and he slid the ball to substitute Jamie Mackie on the right, with James Henry converting his near-post cross in the 52nd minute.
And Robinson’s decision to send Mackie on at the break paid dividends as he poked in a Whyte cross to equalise in the 64th minute.
