Rooney keeps wins rolling for Barrow

John Rooney’s second-half strike proved enough as Barrow claimed their fourth-straight National league victory with a narrow 1-0 win at high-flying Solihull.
The home side got off to a strong start with Alex Gudger testing Barrow goalkeeper Joel Dixon with an effort from the far post following Jamie Osborne’s free-kick in the opening five minutes.
The Bluebirds came close to opening the scoring though a number of Rhys Turner chances, while Jacob Blyth’s header just missed the target on the stroke of half-time.
Rooney fired wide two minutes after the break as the away side pushed for an opener with Jermaine Hylton denied at the other end.
Barrow broke the deadlock with 15 minutes remaining as Rooney curled the ball into the bottom corner from the edge of the box for his fifth goal of the season to see his side move up a spot to 11th as a result.
