Kane is the current favourite to win the award after he spearheaded the Three Lions to the World Cup semi-final in Russia.

The Spurs ace won the Golden Boot thanks to his goalscoring exploits, and could add another trophy to his collection before the end of the night.

While Fury put in a fantastic display in his world title fight against Deontay Wilder this month, where he controversially drew, despite the majority of people believing he had won.

The 30-year-old showed unbelievable heart to climb off the canvas against the Bronze Bomber, as he was robbed of one of the greatest comebacks in boxing history.

Lewis Hamilton is one of the favourites to win the Sports Personality of the Year award

Dressed in a black pin-stripe suit and a jazzy red and black shirt, Fury believes 2018 has been a year to remember.

He said: "Very proud. It’s been a long hard road, plenty of left and right turns. But I think it’s been the best year of my life to be honest.

"I have no interest in boxing at the moment. I want to talk Christmas.

"The shirt reminds me of me and my darling wife, having a dance. That’s why I’ve put it on."

Fury failed to make the final six nominees for the award, as he was overlooked by the BBC.

Lewis Hamilton is in contention to win after he claimed his fifth Formula One World Championship following another breathtaking season in F1.

And Geraint Thomas has also thrown his name in the hat after the Welshman won the coveted Tour de France.

While Lizzy Yarnold - who retained her Skeleton title at the Winter Olympics in 2018 - is also another leading favourite.

And Dina Asher-Smith is also believed to be a potential winner after winning three gold medals at the 2018 European Championships.

Cricket ace James Anderson made the final cut after another impressive year for England.
