MANCHESTER UNITED fans believe they spotted Sir Alex Ferguson 'shaking his head in digust' during the first half against Liverpool.

Fergie was in the stands at Anfield alongside trusted former chief executive David Gill for the Premier League clash.

Sky Sports cameras showed the pair chatting while Ashley Young prepared to take a throw, at which point Fergie appeared to shake his head.

And supporters on Twitter are convinced that was in response to what he was seeing on the pitch after an abject start.

"Anyone see Fergie shake his head in disgust?! LMAO my goat #TouchLineFracas," wrote one.

"Fergie shaking his head in disgust," said another while a fellow fan wrote: "Fergie shaking his head coz he cant believe whether thats United playing or Millwall."

"Fergie just shook his head lol," added another user.

Others used it as a chance to hit out at the off-field men running things at United.

"Wonder what Gill and Fergie were talking about? Bring them back! COME ON UNITED! #MUFC #LUHG #JoseOut #WoodwardOut #GlazersOut" said one.

A fellow supporter fumed: "Gill and Fergie in the stands - wonder what they make of this shower!"

Liverpool went 1-0 down after Fabinho's chipped through ball found Sadio Mane who finished with aplomb.

But Alisson, the hero in midweek against Napoli, gifted United an equaliser when he spilt a Romelu Lukaku cross into the path of Jesse Lingard, who tucked home from close range.
