Gareth Bale speaks his mind about Real Madrid's form since Cristiano Ronaldo left

Life without Cristiano Ronaldo has been tough for Real Madrid.

In their 13 La Liga games so far this season Los Blancos have only won six times, drawing twice and losing an unprecedented five. They currently sit sixth in the table.

Were it for the fact Barcelona and Atletico Madrid haven't been overly convincing either Real would be out of the title race by now.

It's been a different story in the Champions League, though, with Real top of Group G on 12 points having won four out of five fixtures.

They lost the other game to Russian side CSKA Moscow, but that defeat is now long forgotten after Tuesday night's impressive away win over AS Roma.

Santiago Solari's men were fantastic at the Stadio Olimpico as Gareth Bale and Lucas grabbed the goals to ease the pressure.

Real are vying to defend their Champions League crown and even though it's highly unlikely without Ronaldo, they're at least going about it the right way heading into the last 16.

What Los Blancos are ultimately missing is an out-and-out goalscorer. Karim Benzema has struggled in front of goal this season while Bale, to put it bluntly, is not a striker.

Ronaldo's absence has been felt at the Bernabeu and now Bale has given his honest take on the club's form without him.

According to the Welshman, the past few months have been "turbulent" and "frustrating" and as a team they haven't been nearly good enough.

But he's called on his teammates to keep working and get the results they need to catch Sevilla, Barcelona and Atletico in the league.

"It has been a bit of a turbulent start to the season but we have to keep fighting every game no matter what position we are in," said Bale.

"That is football, it can be frustrating sometimes when things are not quite coming off. We know obviously the start of the season was not exactly as we would like.

"We need to keep working hard together as a team to get the performances and get the results... and get back up the table in the league."

Well said. There's a lot of pressure on Bale to deliver now that Ronaldo has joined Juventus and as of yet he hasn't stepped up.

But with so much of the season remaining, time is on the 29-year-old's side to turn things around and show why he was once tipped as Ronaldo's successor.
