Maidenhead leave it late to end losing run as Clifton header sinks Sutton

Adrian Clifton struck an 84th-minute winner as National League strugglers Maidenhead upset the odds to beat Sutton 1-0.
The Mapies came into the match having lost their last six league matches by a combined 23-1 scoreline and were also thrashed 4-0 by Portsmouth in the FA Cup in their last outing.
However, that match was a fortnight ago and the rest may have helped them against a Sutton side who were knocked out of the FA Cup by Slough in midweek following a gruelling tie that ended 8-7 in the penalty shoot-out.
The visitors had chances to take the lead in the first half, with Josh Kelly seeing an effort cleared off the line.
Maidenhead forward Ryan Bird then hit the crossbar at the start of the second half before Clifton popped up near the death to power home a match-winning header.
