Wrexham got their fifth win in a row when they beat Gateshead 3-1 in the Vanarama National League.
The home side had lost just twice this season heading into the game and continued their impressive start to the season to overtake Salford City and claim the league’s top spot.
Wrexham took the lead through an own goal, after a shot from Paul Rutherford was deflected in off the Gateshead defender Fraser Kerr.
The Welsh side doubled their lead early in the second half through Brad Walker when he headed a Rutherford cross into the net past goalkeeper Aynsley Pears.
A late strike from Luke Armstrong gave Gateshead hope before the game was wrapped up by Wrexham in injury time.
Rekeil Pyke scored Wrexham’s third of the game when his shot was deflected past the goalkeeper from a Luke Young pass.
