James Rodriguez could join Juventus in January

According to German outlet, BILD James Rodriguez could be set to leave German giants FC Bayern Munich in January for Juventus.

James Rodriguez to Juventus

James Rodriguez joined Bayern Munich on a two-season loan back in July of 2017 from Real Madrid.

Rodriguez's loan fee was somewhere in the region of £11.7m and does not run out until July of 2019.

Bayern Munich do have the option to buy Rodriguez at the end of his loan deal with the German outfit.

However, according to BILD, Rodriguez could well leave Bayern before his loan deal ends.

Rodriguez has played 49 games in all competitions for Bayern, in which he has scored 11 and assisted 16.

While BILD are reporting that Juventus are the front-runners to sign Rodriguez, they have also stated that there is some interest from England.

BILD do not name a specific English club which is looking at the Colombian.

The Cristiano Ronaldo effect

But Rodriguez was linked with moves to both Chelsea and Manchester United over the summer.

Given United are struggling somewhat this season, signing a top quality player like Rodriguez in January would be a huge boost.

However, the fact Cristiano Ronaldo is now at Juventus may persuade Rodriguez to join Juventus over any other side.

Plus, Rodriguez has 'super agent' Jorge Mendes as his agent. Mendes is also the agent of Ronaldo and Cancelo who have both joined the Serie A giants this summer.

Furthermore, Real Madrid full-back Marcelo is also said to want to join Juventus this summer now Ronaldo is there.

So, Rodriguez could well follow in his former teammate's footsteps as Juventus look to build a side strong enough to win the Champions League.
