Icardi joined Barcelona's La Masia academy back in 2008 before moving onto Sampdoria where he kick-started his senior career.

The Argentine has established himself as one of the most prolific marksman in world football.

Last Sunday he headed an injury time winner as Inter Milan beat AC Milan in the Derby della Madonnina.

Now Icardi and Inter Milan travel to Barcelona full of confidence having won their last seven matches in all competitions.

The 25-year-old has been linked with a big-money move to Spain for a while now but insists he's enjoying life in Italy.

"I am very happy in Milan, very happy at Inter, my family is happy here and I have no need nor desire right now to leave," Icardi said.

"Playing for Barcelona's academy was a very important time for me and my career, as I learned a great deal here. I started my career here and facing them as a player in the Champions League is undoubtedly special and exciting."

Real Madrid and Chelsea are among clubs linked with the striker while Inter Milan remain keen on extending his stay at the San Siro.

"There are always offers, but I am happy at Milan and very calm," he added.

"I have the opportunity to play in the Champions League, I am captain and I want to get even stronger here. I feel like I'm asked to repeat this every day."

Icardi's Argentina team mate Lionel Messi will miss the match having fractured his arm in Saturday's win against Sevilla.

"We know Messi is the best player in the world and I personally felt it was sad he won't be against us, because it's always great to face the best," said Icardi.

"Having said that, I imagine my team-mates in defence are happy about it and we'll try to take advantage!"

Inter Milan and Barcelona have both acquired maximum points from their opening two Champions League matches.

Both clubs will be looking to put one foot in the knockout stages with a victory.

Spurs will have to beat PSV twice and hope that results go their way in the remaining fixtures if they are to qualify for the knockout stages.
