New Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson has been praised by teammate and Scottish defender Andrew Robertson after completing his first match for the club.

Alisson took to the pitch for the first time for his new Premier League club since he made the £56 move from Serie A side AS Roma earlier this summer.

The Brazilian shot-stopper was in fine form as the Reds romped home to a 5-0 victory over Napoli in Dublin.

Despite not coming under much threat from the Napoli attack, Alisson impressed with his distribution and ability to retain possession, a skill that has impressed teammate Robertson, who also played in the match.

Speaking to Liverpool's official website after the match, Robertson heaped compliments on Alisson's style of play and how quick the star has settled in at the Anfield club.

"All goalkeepers are different so it takes a bit of time but today will help the defence and help him know how we play as well," he said.

"I thought he looked very comfortable and I think we adapted to him quite easily.

"He was very comfortable on the ball five minutes in and it meant we could show for it and he was starting most of our play, so it was a very good performance from him, but overall the squad performed very well today."

The 25-year-old will be a vital cog in the Liverpool machine as they attempt to push on and become real contenders for the Premier League title, and Robertson has been nothing but praiseworthy of the Brazilian.

"From day one he settled in quite quickly," said Robertson.

"I think everyone knew from his first interview he spoke very good English so the settling-in period is over for him and I think he is very much part of the squad.

"Today he looked at home, he looked comfortable and when he was called upon he made the saves he had to make, so long may that continue and that will give him more confidence than he has already got and hopefully that will stand us in good stead for the season ahead."

Liverpool's first Premier League match of the season sees them take on West Ham United next Sunday.
