ARSENAL'S new head coach Unai Emery took his first training session on Tuesday - with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang already breaking club records.

The Spanish boss was not going easy on the players not at the World Cup, putting them through a series of gruelling tasks as they prepare for their pre-season friendlies.

Emery begun training by introducing members of his coaching staff, including new joint-assistant Juan Carlos Carcedo and first-team coach Pablo Villanueva, at the London Colney base.

Carcedo will work alongside Steve Bould, who remained in his role following Arsene Wenger's departure.

The new Gunners boss then put his players through their paces with record signing Aubameyang and new arrival Sokratis Papastathopoulos among them.

And it was the Gabon international that will have pleased the Spaniard, after breaking the club's triple jump record during fitness tests with a score on 7.97m

The test is designed to monitor a player's strength and flexibility, with the 29-year-old showing that he has that in leaps and bounds.

Fellow striker Alexandre Lacazette also returned to training, while Petr Cech, fresh from rumours of a loan move to Napoli, was in action in the behind-the-scenes footage shared by Arsenal on YouTube.

Notable absences from training include Germany's Mesut Ozil and goalkeeper David Ospina, who featured in Colombia's defeat to England on Tuesday.

The Gunners will take a pre-season tour of Singapore, playing Atletico Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain in the International Champions Cup, before facing Chelsea in Dublin in the tournament.
