France defender Raphael Varane says teammate Paul Pogba is not "bitter" about any perceived negativity towards him in the media.
The 25-year-old midfielder, who is currently representing Les Blues at his second World Cup finals, recently stated that he is the most criticised footballer in the world.
Varane, though, suggests Pogba is not letting anything written or said about him impact on the way he wants to do things.
"There's a lot of negativity in the press, that's the reality. We are always trying to be positive," he told a press conference, via Football365.
"We look for what went well, and you like to talk more about what went wrong, so I think he was talking about that.
"But he's not bitter, he stays positive always. If you could be more positive, it would be cool."
Pogba featured in Les Bleus opening match against Australia, in which they ran out narrow 2-1 winners, and would subsequently express his disappointment with the performance after the game.
The native of Lagny-sur-Marne, who made his international debut under present boss Didier Deschamps in March 2013, earned his 55th cap for Les Bleus and has nine international goals to his name.
It seemed he bagged his 10th against the Socceroos, but his 80th minute effort was later labelled an own goal by Aziz Behich.
France take on Peru on Thursday in Group C, knowing a win will take them through to the Round of 16.
