World Cup simulation gives Spain 16% chance of glory... and 1.6% for Italy!
UBS include Azzurri to show their decline

Four years ago, UBS predicted Brazil as the winners of the 2014 World Cup and their latest simulations have the South Americans back behind Germany, with Spain the third most likely team to emerge victorious this time around.
Taking into account their own 'Elo' rating, which ranks teams on their objective strength, the study ran 10,000 simulations that consider each side's results in recent years and measures them against the strength of the teams they faced.
Also looked at are each teams' qualification, their previous World Cup record and their supposed path to glory, adding up to make Germany the favourites with a 24 percent chance of winning the tournament alongside a 36.7 percent chance of at least making the final in Moscow.
Brazil (19.8 percent) and Spain (16.1 percent) make up the top three before England, France and Belgium.
Interestingly, UBS also measured Italy's chances in Russia despite having not qualified. Judging the Azzurri to be as strong as Mexico in the Elo rating, they swapped Italy in for the Latin Americans and gave them only a 1.6 percent chance of glory from that spot.
