Olivier Giroud is aiming to finish the season strong with Chelsea

The Frenchman scored the winner against Liverpool on Sunday to keep Chelsea's hopes of a top-four finish alive.

In-form Chelsea's Champions League hopes looked dead and buried a month ago.

But four successive wins means they can still catch Tottenham and Liverpool, who lead Antonio Conte's men by two and three points respectively in the table.

And victory against Huddersfield tomorrow night means they definitely go to Newcastle on Sunday with a chance of a top-four finish.

Giroud said: "I hope I can be the lucky charm for the Champions League race in the final sprint.

"We don't have this situation in our hands, but I have experience about these kind of end-of-season situations.

"We need to give everything and wait for the other results. Tottenham lost at West Brom this weekend, so it gives us a bit more energy and hope. So that's why we want to fight to the end.

"I'm confident because if we play with the same kind of mentality as we showed against Liverpool we can have nice things."

Giroud has scored five goals in eight starts since moving to Stamford Bridge from Arsenal for £18m in January.

That includes helping fire Chelsea to an FA Cup Final date against Manchester United on May 19.

He said: "I have received a really warm welcome at the club from when I first arrived.

"I felt like I was at home since I came here, like I've been here a few years, so for me it was very important.

"I think when you give everything on the pitch people see that."

Tottenham, due to their superior goal difference, are likely to require just a win and a draw in home games against Newcastle and Leicester to thwart Chelsea.

Liverpool won't be caught by the Blues if they beat Brighton in their final game but star man Eden Hazard said: "Beating Liverpool was a massive result. Now the target is just to win and be in the top four at the end of the season.

"If we play like this the last three games, we can have something special at the end of the season.

"Let's hope for something big. We all work together and when we play this kind of game, it is a good feeling after the game."
