Sollihull secure point from trip to AFC Fylde

Sollihull’s excellent 1-1 draw at in-form AFC Fylde was not quite enough to secure Vanarama National League safety, but only a peculiar combination of results on the final day can deny them now.
Omari Sterling-James fired the visitors into a surprise early lead, hitting his effort sweetly past Jay Lynch from a short free-kick by Darren Carter.
Andy Bond got Fylde’s second half off to the perfect start when he tamed Jon Smith’s vicious left-wing cross with a bullet header into the net.
The tide was turning, and Tyrone Williams had to block Smith’s effort on the line to preserve parity. The failure to win denied the Coasters the chance of securing a play-off spot going into the final set of matches.
