Criticism of how Bayern went about hiring Niko Kovac is

Bayern Munich president Uli Hoeness has defended the nature of Niko Kovac's appointment, after Eintracht Frankfurt's director of football claimed the acquisition was disrespectful.

Fredi Bobic accused the Bundesliga champions of leaking the news of their agreement with Kovac prior to Friday's announcement, but Hoeness has since denied the allegations, saying the Bavarian outfit had acted appropriately.

"What Fredi Bobic said was outrageous," Hoeness told Sky Sport Germany.

"We were very professional. We used a clause in Niko Kovac's contract that [Bobic] put in himself. We deliberately told Frankfurt as early as possible so they can get a successor."

James Rodriguez welcomes Niko Kovac to Bayern

Following Bayern's 5-1 decimation of Borussia Monchengladbach on Saturday, James Rodriguez welcomed the incoming manager with enthusiasm.

"He's a young coach and he has done well at Eintracht Frankfurt," the Colombian told

"I hope he comes here with a big desire to win titles. That's what a big club always wants."

Bayern are still on course to capture the treble this season. The Bundesliga title has already been wrapped up, while the Champions League and German Cup trophies are still within their sights, as they are in the semi-finals of both tournaments.

The Bundesliga giants will take on Bayer Leverkusen in the DFB Cup semi-final on April 17, and will face Real Madrid in the Champions League semi-final on 25 April.
