Morecambe picked up their 17th draw of the season with a 1-1 draw against Carlisle at the Globe Arena.
Jim Bentley’s side had to come from behind to seal a point after Jamie Devitt’s superb free-kick looked set to boost Carlisle’s fading play-off hopes.
The former Morecambe player gave Carlisle the lead after a piece of magic when he took the set-piece from 20 yards out and curled a superb effort into the top left-hand corner of the Shrimps’ goal, giving Barry Roche no chance.
Devitt went close to adding a second from a similar set-piece after 22 minutes but forced a fine save from Roche to his left-hand side.
The Morecambe keeper had to be at his best again moments later when he clawed away Richie Bennett’s close range header before the home side levelled just before the half-hour.
Adam McGurk swung in a cross from the right wing and Callum Lang nipped in between two Carlisle defenders to head past Jack Bonham from eight yards out for his 10th goal of the season.
The second half saw Carlisle enjoy the greater share of possession but fail to test Roche too often.
The closest the Cumbrians came to earning victory was a Mike Jones effort that was deflected inches wide by Ashley Nadesan, before the home side almost snatched the points at the death when Andy Fleming crossed from the left and Aaron Wildig looped a header over from 12 yards.
